Primary Care Physicians

Esperanza Health Center, a faith based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks  board certified Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Med/Peds Physicians to provide Christ-centered primary care to the predominantly Latino North Philadelphia community. Behavioral Health Consultant – LCSW/Psy.D

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Behavioral Health Consultant to serve as a member of the primary care provider team providing brief, immediate behavioral health support and interventions as part of integrated primary care services. Refers patients, when appropriate, to social services and external psychiatric counseling.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • LCSWs and Psy.D’s who have a valid, current clinical license in PA, required

Clerical Assistant

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Clerical Assistant.  The Clerical Assistant is responsible for registering patients’ demographics, insurance, and financial information into the EMR prior to service.  Clerical Assistants utilize insurance websites or directly contact insurance companies to verify eligibility and to confirm provider assignment.  Other responsibilities include preparing fee tickets prior to clinical visit, notating all issues concerning insurance problems or missing documentation.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • One or more years in customer service, preferred

Custodial Specialist

Esperanza Health Center, a faith based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks a part-time Custodial Specialist. The Custodial Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly state of the premises of Esperanza Health Center. Additional responsibilities include maintaining environmental services equipment and supplies; performing cleaning and custodial tasks, participating in seasonal maintenance projects such as snow removal and landscaping. This position will report to the Environmental Services Supervisor.  This position is 15 hrs/week.  Evening availability and some weekend availability required.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • High School diploma/GED preferred
  • Previous experience and knowledge of environmental services equipment and chemicals.
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites.
  • Strong work ethic and personal integrity.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

Food Preparation and Service Worker

Esperanza Health Center, a faith based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks a part-time Food Preparation and Service Worker.  The Food Preparation and Service Worker performs the necessary food preparation, customer service and kitchen sanitation tasks to ensure that the healthy café operates consistently, efficiently, and safely.  Some responsibilities include washing, peeling, and/or cutting various fresh fruits and vegetables for salads, wraps, and smoothie preparation; preparing and serving dressings, sauces, soups, and a variety of other foods and beverages.  The Food Preparation and Service Worker portions, wraps, and stores all food, provides customer service and operates the cash register, receives food and supply deliveries, stocks and monitors inventory, and performs kitchen sanitation duties.  This position is approximately 20 hrs/week, during daytime hours, Monday-Friday.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED, required
  • Must be ServSafe Certified or be willing to obtain at own expense
  • Strong kitchen multi-tasking and priority setting ability, required
  • Ability to provide polite and thorough customer service for café patrons and demonstrate hospitable attitude to all staff, patients, and guests
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Safe and efficient knife skills and knowledge of culinary techniques, flow of food management; capable of learning healthy and culturally appropriate recipes

Group Fitness Instructor

Esperanza Health Center, a faith-based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks a part-time Group Fitness Instructor.  The Group Fitness Instructor will provide group class fitness instruction for patients and community members with a special focus on participants who are new to exercise, have been away from exercise for a period of time, or who otherwise desire to participate in low impact, low to moderate intensity physical exercise in a group setting. Other areas of interest include classes for children and youth fitness, teen fitness, senior fitness, family fitness, martial arts, dance, kickboxing, yoga, Pilates or other specialty areas. The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for preparing and leading group fitness classes according to a schedule, intensity level and format agreed upon by supervisor. This includes demonstrating and leading the groups in a variety of movements done safely to provide participants with the opportunity to increase cardiovascular endurance, gain muscular strength, increase flexibility, or meet other specified fitness goals.  The Group Fitness Instructor may also be responsible for registering new participants and processing payments when necessary.  The Group Fitness Instructor may also be asked to substitute for other EHC group exercise classes. Hours will depend on your certifications and our program needs.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Current group exercise certification required such as Zumba Gold, Kickboxing, Exercise for Special Populations or other certification from well-known certifying body (ACE, AFFA, ISSA strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience leading group exercise classes required.
  • Able to design and lead a group exercise class that will give participants with diverse fitness levels, needs and goals a sense of accomplishment and success.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
  • Able to motivate and encourage class participants to achieve fitness goals.
  • Experience demonstrating exercise modifications based on individual restrictions or limitations strongly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of exercise anatomy and physiology required.
  • Must be able to integrate faith with work
  • Able to properly execute all movements and exercises so as to minimize risk of injury. Must be up to date on all contraindications to exercise as set forth by the American College of Sports Medicine.
  • Experience Current CPR/AED for the professional rescuer required.
  • Able to work within set safety protocols, and those established for screening participants.
  • Creative, self-motivated, and willing to continually look for ways to recruit new participants, as well as hold the interest of current participants.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred

Medical Assistant

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant will serve as a member of the Medical Assistant team providing support of the clinicians and in the provision of safe and whole person care to our patients. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing adults and children for exams and assists adult practitioners and pediatricians. They will address the needs of walk-in and call-in patients; help make arrangements for needed follow up. The Medical Assistant may also perform phlebotomy, cover the dispensary role, tend to orderliness, cleanliness and stocking of exam rooms between patient visits; assist in organizing storage areas; and nurture the spiritual growth of team members and patients.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Medical Assistant Certificate or college degree preferred
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle many details and multi-task well
  • Ability to integrate faith and practice
  • Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Proficient math skills
  • Strong communication skills
