Primary Care Physicians

Esperanza Health Center currently seeks Primary Care Physicians (individuals who are Board-certified in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Med/Peds) to provide Christ-centered care to the predominantly Latino North Philadelphia community. Passion for the gospel and Spanish functionality (or willingness to learn) are required. Providers have received loan repayment via National Health Service Corps, the Pennsylvania Loan Repayment Program, or Project MedSend. Immediate positions are open for Physician candidates.

Please note that in late 2011, Esperanza will be opening a new facility in North Philadelphia, and prior to that time the health center will begin to hire both Primary Care Physicians (Board-Certified in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, or Med/Peds) and Nurse Practitioners. Obstetrician/Gynecologist

Federally-qualified community health centers such as Esperanza Health Center stand in a unique position to provide OB-GYN services to the low-income community of North Philadelphia. Esperanza seeks a physician who is Board-certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology to lead the startup of prenatal care and obstetric services, a missing link in Esperanza’s otherwise comprehensive services.  This person would also oversee an experienced women’s health physician assistant.  Passion for the gospel and Spanish functionality (or willingness to learn) are required.  Providers have received loan repayment via National Health Service Corps, the Pennsylvania Loan Repayment Program, or Project MedSend.

Human Resources Manager

Job Summary: Esperanza is seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager. In the past 3-4 years, the size of Esperanza's staff has doubled from approximately 45 to 90 employees, and with significant growth expected as EHC plans to add an additional 60+ positions in the next 3-4 years. The goal of creating this new position is to strengthen our hiring and human resource structure as our staff grows, centralize personnel responsibilities, and advance the health center's human resources functions. Job functions include the following:

  • Oversight of all hiring (recruitment, interviewing, new employee orientation);
  • Oversight of employee benefits (medical, dental, life, long-term disability, educational benefits);
  • Oversight of employee performance appraisal process;

  • Organization of personnel information;
  • Oversight of development and compliance with all Human Resources policies and procedures;
  • Oversight of employee retreats and trainings; and
  • Oversight of employee correction and guidance to ensure a safe and professional work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong organizational management skills and interpersonal skills

Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Social Worker Position - Behavioral Health Consultant

Job Summary: Esperanza Health Center, a faith based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia seeks a full-time Behavioral Health Consultant to serve as a member of the primary care provider team providing brief, immediate behavioral health support and interventions as part of integrated primary care services. Refers patients, when appropriate, to social services and external psychiatric counseling.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to provide quick and accurate clinical assessments, and design culturally-appropriate behavioral health interventions
  • Ability to integrate faith and practice
  • Proficiency in Spanish recommended
  • Knowledge of basic psycho-pharmacology an asset
  • LCSWs and/or Psy.D's who have a valid, current clinical license in Pennsylvania, or are able to be licensed in Pennsylvania, are encouraged to apply; MSWs and LSWs may be considered, contingent on funding.

Phlebotomist

Job Summary: Esperanza Health Center seeks a Phlebotomist. This is an hourly position working with adult and pediatric patients. Duties include: performing phlebotomy services; processing of lab specimens; inventory and ordering of laboratory and phlebotomy supplies; performance of in-house lab tests; maintenance of lab reference spreadsheets; oversight of Medical Assistants; communication with outside labs; and, assisting in implementation of new initiatives to promote smooth functioning of the phlebotomy lab. Position may include some Medical Assistant duties during the afternoons as time permits.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant in outpatient phlebotomy lab with recent blood drawing and specimen preparation experience
  • Excellent organizational skills with careful attention to details
  • Solid math skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills in MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Willingness to make a 2-year commitment

Assistant Supervisor, Clinical Support Team

Job Summary: Esperanza Health Center seeks an Assistant Supervisor for its Clinical Support Team. This salaried position includes clinical, personnel and administrative duties which contribute to the smooth function of the Medical Assistant Team. Responsibilities include: inventory and ordering of clinical supplies and vaccines; processing time sheets; monitoring performance of in-house lab tests and controls; training of Medical Assistants; updating clinical protocols; covering the MA role when staff are off; participating in the professional and spiritual growth of a team of 17 Medical Assistants; and, helping to implement new initiatives affecting the functioning of the clinical support team.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience mentoring people or leadership experience preferred
  • Clinical experience in a health care setting preferred or strong interest in the healthcare field
  • Excellent organizational skills with careful attention to details
