Primary Care Physicians

Esperanza Health Center, a faith based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks  board certified Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Med/Peds Physicians to provide Christ-centered primary care to the predominantly Latino North Philadelphia community. Spanish functionality (or willingness to learn) is required. Providers have received loan repayment via National Health Service Corps, the Pennsylvania Loan Repayment Program, or Project MedSend.

Dentist (part-time)

Esperanza Health Center, a faith based bilingual primary care health center ministry in Philadelphia, seeks a part-time Staff Dentist.  The Staff Dentist is responsible for providing clinical dental services and preventive dental care in a community health center setting.  The Staff Dentist supervises the dental assistants and dental hygienists of the community health center in the absence of the Lead Dentist.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of PA, required
  • Current CPR (BLS) certification, required
  • Pennsylvania DEA registrations, required
  • Bilingual in English or Spanish, or willingness to participate in overseas immersion language training, required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of primary dental care in outpatient setting
  • Current knowledge of principles and practices of modern dentistry as related to public health organizations and community health programs

Billing Specialist

Esperanza Health Center, a faith based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks a full-time Billing Specialist.  The Billing Specialist is responsible for preparing and submitting clean claims (electronically or paper) to various insurance; posting hospital charges and home visit charges, insurance payments/remittances, and patient receipts. This position is responsible for maintaining up-to-date responses to claim denials and correspondence with insurance and performing various collection actions for past due balances from insurance and patient payments which includes review rejected claims and take appropriate actions, including re-billing or transferring bills to second insurance or to the patient. The ideal candidate will work in harmonious partnership with the billing team, health center staff and volunteers to further Esperanza’s mission and vision, to accomplish common goals, and to coordinate various activities.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • One or more years of medical billing experience, preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical billing/collection practices, third-party operating procedures and practices, ICD/CPT coding, and medical terminology
  • Ability to integrate faith and work
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, required
  • Demonstrated ability to handle many details and multiple priorities
  • Ability to organize, process, and verify detail transactions

Clerical Assistant

Esperanza Health Center, a faith based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks a full-time Clerical Assistant.  The Clerical Assistant is responsible for registering patients’ demographics, insurance, and financial information into the EMR prior to service.  Clerical Assistants utilize insurance websites or directly contact insurance companies to verify eligibility and to confirm provider assignment.  Other responsibilities include preparing fee tickets prior to clinical visit, notating all issues concerning insurance problems or missing documentation.

Custodial Specialist

Esperanza Health Center, a faith-based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks a part-time Custodial Specialist.  The Custodial Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly state of the premises of Esperanza Health Center.  Additional responsibilities include maintaining environmental services equipment and supplies, performing cleaning and custodial tasks, and participating in seasonal maintenance projects such as snow removal and landscaping.  Evening and weekend availability is required.  This position is 15 hrs/ week, from 6:30pm – 9:30pm, Monday – Friday.

  • High School diploma/GED, preferred
  • Previous experience and knowledge of environmental services equipment and chemicals, preferred

Group Fitness Instructor

Esperanza Health Center, a faith-based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks part-time Group Fitness Instructors, possessing varying group exercise certifications.  The Group Fitness Instructor will provide group class fitness instruction for patients and community members. Areas of interest include classes for children and youth fitness, teen fitness, senior fitness, family fitness, martial arts, dance, kickboxing, yoga, Pilates or other specialty areas. The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for preparing and leading group fitness classes, and may also be responsible for registering new participants and processing payments when necessary.  Hours will depend on your certifications and our program needs.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Current group exercise certification required (i.e. Zumba Gold, Kickboxing, Exercise for Special Populations)
  • Experience Current CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, required
  • Previous experience leading group exercise classes, required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of exercise anatomy and physiology, required
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred
  • Experience demonstrating exercise modifications based on individual restrictions or limitations, strongly preferred

Medical Assistant

Esperanza Health Center, a faith based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks a full-time Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant will serve as a member of the Medical Assistant team providing support of the clinicians and in the provision of safe and whole person care to our patients. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing adults and children for exams and assists adult practitioners and pediatricians. They will address the needs of walk-in and call-in patients; help make arrangements for needed follow up. The Medical Assistant may also perform phlebotomy, cover the dispensary role, tend to orderliness, cleanliness and stocking of exam rooms between patient visits; assist in organizing storage areas; and nurture the spiritual growth of team members and patients.

  • Medical Assistant Certificate or college degree preferred

OB Nurse Care Manager (part-time)

Esperanza Health Center, a faith based bilingual primary care health center ministry in Philadelphia, seeks a part-time OB Nurse Care Manager. The OB Nurse Care Manager is responsible for providing prenatal care management to patients at Esperanza Health Center and related administrative responsibilities. The OB Nurse Care Manager collects patient history for new prenatal patient visits in a clinic session, meets one on one with each prenatal patient to provide prenatal education, schedules ultrasounds and other services, and  provides care management for high risk prenatal patients as directed by the clinician. The OB Nurse Care Manager coordinates and facilitates Centering Pregnancy groups, teaches prenatal classes, and provides lactation support and pregnancy testing. Administrative responsibilities include patient recordkeeping, completing OB assessment forms (ONAF), tracking prenatal data, and other tasks. This position is part-time, 24 hrs/week.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Registered Nurse License required, BSN preferred; with 1-2 years of professional experience providing clinical services in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Good oral communication skills.  Bilingual in English or Spanish,or willingness to participate in overseas  immersion language training, required
  • Experience in maternal healthcare, preferred
  • Experience or training in breastfeeding/lactation counseling and support, preferred

Registered Dietitian

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Registered Dietitian (RD).  The Registered Dietitian is an integral member of the Care Management team, who will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of nutrition counseling among the patient population, accomplishing the goals set forth for disease prevention, and overseeing nutrition education initiatives.  This includes providing individual counseling sessions, collaborating with clinicians for Diabetes care management, organizing and implementing group sessions, assisting with clinic health department staff and tracking outcomes in regards to specific grants and general department and clinic goals.  This position is part-time, 24 hours/week until July 1st, 2017, at which point it will transition to full-time permanently.

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited college or university, required
  • RD licensure, required
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, or willingness to participate in overseas language immersion training, required
  • Strong cross cultural skills and sensitivity

Social Services Case Manager – starting May 2017

Esperanza Health Center, a faith-based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks a full-time Social Services Manager.  The Social Services Manager (SSM) provides social services at designated Esperanza Health Center sites, addressing patient needs which predispose illness or interfere with benefit from medical care.  This includes assisting the uninsured with Marketplace, Medicaid, and/or CHIP insurance applications, HIV testing and counseling in a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to client-centered care.   Other responsibilities include serving as an advocate for patients, providing spiritual intervention for patients and sharing hope, building relationships with resource organizations, providing health insurance education and application assistance, managing case notes and properly documenting services provided, and tracking and following up on social services referrals.  This position will become available May of 2017.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, preferred; equivalent education/experience considered
  • 2+ years of social services experience; social work in a medical environment preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, required
  • Knowledge of community resources, churches and community organizations, required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to deal with challenging patients
