Esperanza Health Center, a faith based bilingual primary care health center ministry in Philadelphia, seeks a full-time Dentist.  The Staff Dentist is responsible for providing clinical dental services and preventive dental care in a community health center setting.  The Staff Dentist supervises the dental assistants and dental hygienists of the community health center in the absence of the Lead Dentist.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of PA, required

Assistant Office Manager/Clerical Assistant 

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Assistant Office Manager/Clerical Assistant. The Assistant Office Manager/Clerical Assistant will provide direct support to the Office Manager and Practice Administrator in leading the Clerical team to ensure quality operations within the Clerical department and Esperanza Health Center as a whole. The Assistant Office Manager/Clerical Assistant  is responsible for preparing weekly clerical schedules, providing direct patient care using the new phone platform and monitoring patients’ access, conducting referral tracking reports, analyzing measures for quality assurance, assisting with the development of protocols and workflows, creating training modules and materials, and training new clerical assistants.  The Assistant Office Manager/Clerical Assistant will function as a half time clerical assistant fulfilling clerical assistant duties and serving as a clerical assistant float when needed.  Periodically, the Assistant Office Manager/Clerical Assistant will act as the Patient Access Liaison and the department lead in the absence of an Office Manager at either site. Additionally, the Assistant Office Manager/Clerical Assistant will be involved in clinical quality improvement measures on special projects with the Practice Administrator.  This opportunity is only available to current Esperanza Health Center employees.  Some responsibilities of the position are under review and are subject to change pursuant to department needs.

Billing Specialist

Esperanza Health Center, a faith based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks a full-time Billing Specialist.  The Billing Specialist is responsible for preparing and submitting clean claims (electronically or paper) to various insurance; posting hospital charges and home visit charges, insurance payments/remittances, and patient receipts. This position is responsible for maintaining up-to-date responses to claim denials and correspondence with insurance and performing various collection actions for past due balances from insurance and patient payments which includes review rejected claims and take appropriate actions, including re-billing or transferring bills to second insurance or to the patient. The ideal candidate will work in harmonious partnership with the billing team, health center staff and volunteers to further Esperanza’s mission and vision, to accomplish common goals, and to coordinate various activities.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • One or more years of medical billing experience, highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical billing/collection practices, third-party operating procedures and practices, ICD/CPT coding, and medical terminology

Clerical Assistant

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Clerical Assistant.  The Clerical Assistant is responsible for registering patients’ demographics, insurance, and financial information into the EMR prior to service.  Clerical Assistants utilize insurance websites or directly contact insurance companies to verify eligibility and to confirm provider assignment.  Other responsibilities include preparing fee tickets prior to clinical visit, notating all issues concerning insurance problems or missing documentation.

Director of Information Technology

Esperanza Health Center, a faith-based primary health care clinic based in three Philadelphia locations, seeks a full-time Director of Information Technology.  The Director of Information Technology is a member of the management team, working to ensure that the technology infrastructure at Esperanza supports our mission to provide high quality primary care services for the North Philadelphia community.  The position is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions, including the existing medical records platform, network and telecommunications infrastructure, applications, and development of new technological solutions to improve operational efficiency.  The Director of Information Technology provides leadership, vision and management to the IT staff and works collaboratively with the management team to develop the annual IT forecast and budget.  Applicants must be able to analyze a wide range of business needs and recommend cost-effective technical solutions.  The Director of Information Technology is a working leader, ensuring responsive service and end-user support. Responsibilities include ensuring the consistency and maintenance of existing technology; overseeing the development, design and implementation of new technology solutions; directing and prioritizing the work load of IT staff; and maintaining a high level of service to end users by establishing and enforcing organization standards for software, hardware, and networking. The Director of Information Technology will share the on-call (after-hour) support responsibilities of the IT department, providing remote desktop support to the organization’s end-users. The Director of Information Technology is responsible for ensuring the continual functioning of mission critical operations; maintaining the security and privacy of the information systems, communications lines and equipment; and developing, reviewing and testing all back-up and disaster recovery plans and procedures.  Position becomes available Summer 2017.

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology or business-related field is required.
  • Minimum of five years’ management and leadership experience in Information Technology; health care experience preferred. Experience in managing a multi-site Microsoft Windows environment. Prior experience in a not-for-profit organization is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in information technology planning and budget management.
  • Experience in project management and change management processes; planning and implementing technology solutions that meet or exceed organizational strategic goals.
  • Ability to serve as a working manager who can manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment and motivate professional staff to deliver a high level of responsive service to end users in support of daily operations.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strategically coordinate IT initiatives with grant opportunities that further Esperanza’s ability to serve the community.

  • Experience in Christian ministry is preferred; must be able to foster Esperanza’s mission at all levels within the organization.

Food Service Substitute

Esperanza Health Center seeks a part-time, on-call Food Service Substitute.  The Food Service Substitute performs the necessary food preparation, customer service, and kitchen sanitation tasks to ensure that the healthy café operates consistently, efficiently, and safely.  This position is a part-time, on-call substitute with no guaranteed weekly hours.

Food Service Worker/Driver

Esperanza Health Center seeks a part-time Food Service Worker/Driver.  The Food Service Worker/Driver is responsible for providing healthy food options for the patients, staff and the general public connected to the clinic community.  The Food Service Worker/Driver performs the food preparation, customer service and kitchen sanitation tasks. Additional responsibilities include driving and purchasing goods and supplies; stocking café supplies; operating the cash register; monitoring the functioning of equipment; and opening and closing the café for operation depending on the shift. Must use own insured car; and will be reimbursed for mileage. This position is 23 hours a week.

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED and one year professional experience in commercial food preparation, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be ServSafe certified or be willing to obtain at own expense within 90 days of employment

Group Fitness Instructor

Esperanza Health Center seeks Group Fitness Instructors, possessing varying group exercise certifications.  The Group Fitness Instructor will provide group class fitness instruction for patients and community members. Areas of interest include classes for children and youth fitness, teen fitness, senior fitness, family fitness, martial arts, dance, kickboxing, yoga, Pilates or other specialty areas. The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for preparing and leading group fitness classes, and may also be responsible for registering new participants and processing payments when necessary.  Hours will depend on your certifications and our program needs.

  • Current group exercise certification required (i.e. Zumba Gold, Kickboxing, Exercise for Special Populations)

Esperanza Health Center, seeks a full-time Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant will serve as a member of the Medical Assistant team providing support of the clinicians and in the provision of safe and whole person care to our patients. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing adults and children for exams and assists adult practitioners and pediatricians. They will address the needs of walk-in and call-in patients; help make arrangements for needed follow up. The Medical Assistant may also perform phlebotomy, cover the dispensary role, tend to orderliness, cleanliness and stocking of exam rooms between patient visits; assist in organizing storage areas; and nurture the spiritual growth of team members and patients.

OB/GYN Coordinator

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time OB/GYN Coordinator.  The OB/GYN Coordinator will be an integral part of Esperanza Health Center’s obstetrics and gynecological team.  The OB/GYN coordinator will manage the Centering Pregnancy program and have administrative and clinical responsibilities for the department.   Responsibilities include recruiting patients for the Centering Pregnancy program and performing follow-up, organizing and facilitating patient groups, serving as an Esperanza representative to outside organizations in matters related to Centering Pregnancy, capturing relevant data and tracking various outcome measures, providing walk-in pregnancy testing and care coordination, lactation support and various other responsibilities as assigned within the OB/GYN department.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, human resources, public health, social work, or other related fields, preferred
  • Prior administrative experience; demonstrated ability to handle many details and multiple priorities. Must show ability to organize information, process, and verify details

Dietitian (RD)

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Dietitian (RD).  The Registered Dietitian is an integral member of the Care Management team, who will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of nutrition counseling among the patient population, accomplishing the goals set forth for disease prevention, and overseeing nutrition education initiatives.  This includes providing individual counseling sessions, collaborating with clinicians for Diabetes care management, organizing and implementing group sessions, assisting with clinic health department staff and tracking outcomes in regards to specific grants and general department and clinic goals.  This position is part-time, 24 hours/week until July 1st, 2017, at which point it will transition to full-time permanently.

Social Services Manager

Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Social Services Manager, starting in May of 2017.  The Social Services Manager (SSM) provides social services at designated Esperanza Health Center sites, addressing patient needs which predispose illness or interfere with benefit from medical care.  This includes assisting the uninsured with Marketplace, Medicaid, and/or CHIP insurance applications, HIV testing and counseling in a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to client-centered care.   Other responsibilities include serving as an advocate for patients, providing spiritual intervention for patients and sharing hope, building relationships with resource organizations, providing health insurance education and application assistance, managing case notes and properly documenting services provided, and tracking and following up on social services referrals.  This position will become available May of 2017.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, preferred; equivalent education/experience considered
  • 2+ years of social services experience; social work in a medical environment preferred

Wellness Assistant

Esperanza Health Center, a faith-based primary health care clinic in Philadelphia, seeks a part-time Wellness Assistant  The Wellness Assistant will monitor the fitness room, provide customer service to patients and community members in the fitness room, instruct gym users on the proper use of fitness room equipment, maintain attendance records, and process payments.  The Wellness Assistant will also provide administrative and programmatic support for other community wellness initiatives, including but not limited to FamilyFit programming, fitness/group exercise classes, and gardening.  This position is critical for program promotion, linking individuals and families to available programs and providing program implementation support.  This position is 13.5 hrs/week in the afternoons, with the possibility of some extra hours beyond that being approved in the future.
